Club Championship

Club Championship 2025
Following a very successful club championship again last year we are
keen to keep this piece of fun as a part of club life. To keep the scoring
simple, the championship this year has been designed in such a way that
all members can be competitive and pick up points throughout the year.
We are really keen to make it as inclusive as possible.
In addition to race participation there will be an opportunity to pick up
points for volunteering as well.
We have tried to include a range of distances and terrains to cater for all
running tastes as well as a number of local races to support our closest
clubs. Mindful of the increasing cost of living a number of free events have
also been included.

Format
The championship will run from 1st January 2025 to 31st December 2025.
You can enter as many races as you like but it is only the top 12 that will
be included in your championship sub total for the year.
There will be separate championships for male and female runners.

Scoring
The scoring will be kept very basic. The first Fairwater male and female
runner to cross the line in a race will earn 50 points each, second pair 49,
the third pair 48 and so on for each of the male and female
championships.

Bonus Points

In addition to race points, bonus points will also be available to boost your
total points.

Marathon & Ultra Running
Any runner who completes an official marathon or ultra in the year will
automatically earn 50 bonus points. This will count as one of your top 12
and not in addition. Multiple marathons will not earn further points.

GLCL & Gwent League
You will receive an additional 10-point bonus for each Gwent League,
GLCL XC & Road Race you participate in. These will be in addition to your
championship points.

Half Marathon
Competitors who complete an official half marathon will be given an
additional one off 20-point bonus.

10km
Competitors who complete an official 10km race will be given an
additional one off 5-point bonus.

Fell & Other Races
In recognition that many members are active fell runners or enjoy specific
races over non-standard distances, 10 bonus points per race will be
awarded up to a maximum of 50 points for this category.

Tie-Break Scenario
In the event of a tie the runner with the highest overall age graded
percentage will be the winner.

Volunteering
We are a very small club and rely heavily on volunteers to facilitate many
of our internal races such as the time trial and handicap runs as well as
make external events such as Rack Raid and Twmbarlwm Terror possible.
You can earn 10 bonus points per volunteer role up to a maximum of 50
points.

Recording
Please note that it is your responsibility to notify Alison and Heather if you
have completed a race that you want to be included in the championship.
This should be evidenced on Run Britain or a link to the result for external
races. The organisers will not have time to trawl external websites to look
for the results on your behalf. Please email us so that we can update the
spreadsheet.
